What will the Funeral Ceremony include?
When we meet to discuss the funeral ceremony we will go through all the various options and possibilities, and below are some things you might like to consider before then.
The Funeral Ceremony might include:
A Life Tribute This is the main part of the ceremony and will be written to capture the essence, personality and beliefs of the person who has died and can include stories and anecdotes as well as funny and sad memories.
Words from Family and Friends These may be delivered by either the person themselves or by Maria delivering the ceremony, you might also like to have letters or emails that have been sent read out.
Poems and Readings You might like to choose favourite or significant poems and readings, we will also send you our collection which you might like to choose from. You may also include religious readings such as a favourite prayer or passages from the bible or any other religious scripture.
Music You might like to choose up to three pieces of music (or more if you are not holding the ceremony at the crematorium) and they can be anything you like from a hymn to a rock song! Please ask us for ideas if you need help choosing something.
Other things you might like to include
- A few minutes silent reflection for people to remember them in whatever way they choose.
- Time for people attending to share their thoughts and say a few words.
- Lighting a candle, signing a book of memories
There are no legal requirements you have to abide by so you are free to include whatever you want, the only restriction may be on timing if the service is to be held in the crematorium.
