How does it work?
When you contact us we’ll arrange a consultation with you in person or over the phone/Skype, during this meeting we can also discuss your Wedding Ceremony and we will guide you through the various options and find out what you would like your ceremony to include. Depending on your chosen package you will also have access to our collection of poems and readings which you might like to choose from. Your Wedding Ceremony will then be written for you and you will receive a first draft within 14 days (of receipt of your deposit) to which you can make any changes or additions if you wish.
Your Wedding Ceremony will be conducted by us on your Wedding Day.
Where can we hold our Wedding Ceremony?
You can hold your Wedding Ceremony anywhere you choose including outdoors or in any suitable venue (including ones not licensed for marriages) for example:
- At home
- In your garden
- On a beach
- In a marquee
- A hotel or stately home
- In a castle
Can we get married outside?
Whilst you cannot legally be married by a Registrar outside you can still hold your One Life Wedding Ceremony wherever you choose: indoors or outdoors! See our Outdoor Wedding Ceremony page for more information.
Is it legal?
A One Life Wedding Ceremony is held separately to the legal marriage formalities and we can help you to make the arrangements with the Register Office for you to complete the paperwork with your two witnesses on a day of your choice if you would like us to. (The services of the Register Office are charged separately). Please see our guide to getting married at the Register Office.
Can we ask a Registrar to come to the venue?
Yes you can, however they will generally wish to conduct their part of the marriage ceremony first then take their leave before your One Life Wedding Ceremony. (In this case you will need to choose a venue licensed for marriage).
Please speak to us if you would like to arrange this.
Can we write our own vows?
Yes.
Can we include our family and/or children in our Wedding Ceremony?
Yes, speak to us about ways you can incorporate your family and/ or children.
Are you Humanists?
We are not Humanists nor are we affiliated to any religion or belief system, this leaves you free to include the words, readings and contributions that you would like without any restrictions.
Can we include religion?
Yes, the choice of a fully non-religious ceremony or one which contains elements of religion is entirely yours.
Who will conduct our ceremony?
Your ceremony will be conducted by one of our experienced Ceremony Conductors. You will always meet the person conducting your ceremony before your wedding day.
Can we hold a rehearsal?
Yes, our wedding ceremony includes a detailed handout to help you hold your own rehearsal the night before with your friends and family who will be involved in the ceremony - this is usually all you need. However if you would prefer to have a Ceremony Conductor help you with the walk through then this costs £180 on top of your ceremony price.
Can we hold the ceremony abroad?
Yes, subject to expenses we arrange to come with you or we can create a personal ceremony script that you can take with you and you can ask another celebrant or friend can conduct the ceremony.
